Immigration, Refuges and Education
About
Immigration has been a hot topic in the united states for several decades even more so now than ever. In addition, for refugees, every year the number of admissions has been brought down. From our Christian standpoint we feel that we need to advocoate for these ongoing issues. Going off of this, another topic we looked into was the socioeconomic status and its connection to the achievment gap. Unfortunately, children in low income areas are not getting the same types of edcation advances as children in high income areas. This is something that needs to be improved upon to benefit children and their ability to recieve equal education.

Countless studies and research articles show discrepancies between poor and non-poor students. Poorer schools and schools that host primarily minority students often receive less funding and employ less competent staff members ,which can prevent the school from providing more adequate instruction and engaging opportunities. This brings out average lower scores for standardized tests and lower graduation rates for these schools.
